Business in the Community (BITC)
BITC serves as a forum for sharing ideas across schools and business partners. Shenley Academy is placed in the BITC Cluster Group 1 which involves schools in South Birmingham along with their business partners. By attending regional cluster meetings on a termly basis, opportunities for networking and developing additional links with other schools and business representatives is key.
In April 2016 we hosted BITC’s annual Question Time event where Year 11 students, from a number of schools in the city, quizzed business people during a discussion about good business practices as part of Responsible Business Week. Representatives of companies included Central England Co-operative, Cleone Foods and Saint Gobain.
The discussion was designed to provide students with examples of responsible business practices they can use as part of their Business Studies courses and to inspire and motivate the students to become the responsible business people of the future. During this event students were given an opportunity to network with representatives from the businesses in attendance.
“This event shows how businesses behave with integrity and how they take care of their local communities and employees”
“The networking session was great as it gave me the opportunity to talk to business people regarding their career journey”
