SSAT Lead Practitioner Learning Centre

Welcome to Shenley Academy, an SSAT Lead Practitioner Learning Centre.

Since 2016 we have been recognised as a centre of excellence for the training and support of aspiring Lead Practitioners, a nationally recognised accreditation from the SSAT.

What is a Lead Practitioner?

A Lead Practitioner is someone who demonstrates outstanding expertise in their field and is able to lead colleagues to improve their practice; leading to positive impact on student learning.

The accreditation was developed by head teachers, in partnership with Warwick University and CUREE, to provide a way of promoting school improvement, attracting and retaining effective practitioners and valuing those who lead practice and who want to continue as practitioners themselves.

Training and support offered at Shenley Academy

At Shenley Academy, in addition to the opportunity of applying for the accreditation through the SSAT, we offer support from colleagues who have been trained by the SSAT and who have also been successfully accredited as Lead Practitioners themselves.

This includes:

  • two half day training sessions – a ‘launch’ session and ‘getting ready for accreditation’ session
  • two ‘networking’ sessions – to support colleagues through different stages of their accreditation.
  • coaching training session – to support in school coaches
