How we support our students

All sixth form students are incredibly well supported by their personal specialist post 16 tutor.

They meet daily to discuss anything from academic progress to current news topics. Small friendly tutor groups form a strong bond, supporting each other, with the benefits that mixed year 12 and 13 groups bring.

The tutorial programme delivered by tutors and students covers a wide range of topics relating to health and well-being, study skills, topical issues and ethics. Progress is monitored regularly with strategies put into place if needed. Every student is well known and cared about.

Students receive high quality and impartial CEIAG through the tutorial programme, enrichment, their tutors and access an independent careers advisor meeting in addition to many external speakers and activities. The pastoral support in the Academy for sixth form students means that support is given quickly and effectively.

Shenley Academy 16-19 Bursary Fund

Shenley Academy receives funding from the Education Funding Agency (EFA) to administer the 16-19 Bursary Fund. The funding is targeted to students who are facing a financial barrier to participation in the complete education experience at Shenley Academy. The bursary awarded can be used to fund transport to school, trips, books, suitable clothing, equipment and school provided meals. Evidence of these costs will be necessary to apply for the funding.

There are two types of bursaries: vulnerable bursaries and discretionary bursaries.
