Our facilities

Our new building was formally opened in October 2012 by The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor John Lines.

The Learning Environment and Facilities

Subjects are grouped into faculties with suites of classrooms and specialist accommodation:

  • eight state of the art science laboratories
  • a technology suite with a state of the art food room, two large multi-material workshops serviced by Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM)
  • two dance studios equipped with sprung floors
  • two drama studios and a theatre with a well equipped auditorium with high-tech sound and lighting systems
  • two large art rooms with state of the art graphic design facilities
  • extensive music facilities including an Apple Mac music suite and an industry standard recording studio
  • two four-court sports halls, extensive external pitches, a dedicated table tennis suite, a state of the art fitness centre and a large table tennis arena
  • a Library and Resource Centre

ICT and e-learning

A £1.4million investment in ICT and a new Virtual Learning Environment (from January 2013) supports an online curriculum and gives students (and parents/carers) access from home. Our new ICT provision enables 1:1 access in many areas. This includes:

  • an academy wide network of more than 1000 devices including all-in-one PCs and high-spec netbooks
  • high-speed broadband throughout supported by site-wide WiFi provision
  • many large all-in-one PC suites across the academy
  • one full suite of state of the art Apple Macs
  • dedicated sets of netbooks in many subject areas
  • all teaching rooms equipped with an interactive whiteboard
  • all-in-one PC workstations in the Learning Resource Centre for use by students throughout the day, before and after school

Our Site

  • extensive external play and recreation areas, quiet seating, huge playgrounds, multi use games area and an outdoor amphitheatre.
