Community Trust Launch Blues Disability Football Programme

16 August 2018

Birmingham City FC Community Trust is delighted to announce the launch of a new disability football programme.

The programme, part funded by the FA’s Grow the Game initiative, will see the evolution of a range of disability teams from under 12s to adults.

The teams will play in the Birmingham Ability Counts League competing against sides representing professional, semi-professional and grassroots clubs from across the West Midlands.

The pan-disability league is a competition for players of all abilities and gender, who have a disability preventing them from participating in mainstream football.

Birmingham City Community Trust will commence the programme through weekly training sessions led by qualified and experienced disability coaches and competitive league matches will be held monthly.

Head of Birmingham City Community Trust, Jamie Bunch, said: “Developing an inclusive football development programme has been a priority as the Community Trust enters into a new era.

“I’m sure Blues fans will be pleased to hear we will now have our own disability teams competing against all the other clubs in the area. We are looking forward to liaising and working with parents, carers, schools and community organisations who would like to become part of this programme in the future.”
