Student Leadership

14 January 2019

At Shenley Academy, students are empowered to make decisions and consider innovative strategies to improve student experience. The student leadership team, made up of students from Key Stage Four,  takes a solution-focused approach and acts as a voice for all students; it is a catalyst for developing many key initiatives.

On Friday 11th January, the first student leadership meeting of the year was held. Students were joined by new Senior Assistant Head Teacher Mr Davies, alongside Mr Coy and Mr Wood to consider key challenges faced by Shenley, and how standards could be improved across the Academy. Students presented a number of interesting ideas. Key issues that were raised included:

  • Punctuality to the academy
  • Quality of school dinners
  • Student behaviour/ rewards system

The leadership team from year 10 will now present and discuss these issues and possible solutions to the academy’s senior staff. Student leaders across Key Stage Three will be appointed in the coming days. We look forward to an exciting term for our student leaders!
