Enrichment

Students have access to an extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities.

At Shenley Academy, we want to give students further opportunities outside of curriculum time to enrich their school experience. Extra-curricular is an important part of young people’s personal development and supports their mental health and well-being. These activities can be the beginnings of a new passion that remains with them throughout their time at Shenley and beyond.

In addition to learning new skills and extending the work that happens during curriculum time, extra-curricular activities give students further opportunities to develop transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, creativity and problem solving. The activities can also help to build positive and meaningful relationships and can be the catalyst for forming long lasting friendships that enhance their lives. Furthermore, they can enhance positive character traits and virtues such as respect, resilience, responsibility, aspiration and tolerance.

During the academic year we offer a wide array of extra-curricular opportunities that are provided for students to engage with. These include a range of activities covering sport, art, music, drama, coding, creative writing, cooking, dance and many more. Furthermore, we are also offering the Duke of Edinburgh Award. This can be a life-changing experience and an opportunity to discover new interests and talents whilst also giving back to our local community. It is a tool to develop essential skills for life and work and is a recognised mark of achievement; respected by employers.
